Are You a Self-Starter?

Are You a Self-Starter? + A Free Checklist! | Fearfully Fashioned #productivity #entrepreneurs #FearfullyFashioned

Wake up at 5:30 in the morning? Check. Make coffee? Check. Early morning workout? Check. Make to-do list? Check, check, check, and check. Many of us cringe at the thought of peeling our eyelids open and prying ourselves out of bed, but this is the life of a self-starter. A self-starter is a person who capitalizes on every moment of her day. She wakes up with the intention of moving one step forward than the day before.

Now the good news is that you don’t have to necessarily grind it out to be a self-stater. A self-starter is simply someone who is intentional and has a "can-do" attitude instead of a “maybe later one.” She gives herself grace on the days that she falls short, but she doesn’t drag out those moments. The question is are you a self-starter?

Many know the phrase carpe diem, which means “to seize the day.” It’s unfortunate how much this concept is forgotten because when you think about it, the phrase has a biblical basis. In Ephesians 5:16 we are urged to make the most of our days.

Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you do.
— Ephesians 5:16-17

How many of us can actually say that we are fully making the most of our days? Similar to money, time has value that can be spent, but unlike money we can’t get it back. There are way too many people out there in their 40s and 50s who have dreams that have been wasted. They spent their life putting off their dreams due to fear, insecurity, uncertainty, and sometimes just pure laziness. That is not my heart for you. You have been called to fulfill your destiny on this earth. Don’t waste your life twiddling your thumbs waiting for opportunities to present themselves to you. God will open the door, but you have to move before it closes.

Here are some sure fire ways to take you from being a self-stopper to a self-starter:

  • Wake up 30 minutes to an hour early.
  • Write down your dreams.
  • Pray consistently about your dreams.
  • Create S.M.A.R.T. goals to actively work on accomplishing those dreams.
  • Spend 30 mins to a hour each day working on your goals
  • Share your vision.
  • Find an accountability partner to hold you responsible.
  • Encourage others in the pursuit of their dreams.

I know that it can be hard for some of us to take action towards our goals. That’s why I’ve taken the time to create a checklist to remind you of what you can do daily to be a self-starter. Click the button below for your free download!
